The Donnell family of Lawton, Oklahoma formed manufactured home producer, Town & Country Homes in 1955.

In 1981, Town & Country merged with Brigadier Homes to become the seventh largest manufactured home producer in the United States.

In 1994 Cavalier Homes, Inc. revived the Town & Country brand under the name Cavalier Town & Country. Cavalier Homes, Inc. is a publicly owned company and its stock is traded on the New York Stock exchange under the symbol CAV.

Town & Country's traditional manufactured home market has been the Eastern part of the US. Selling products and services to hundreds of independently owned retail sales centers throughout that region, which are not an agent of Town and Country Homes.
